Robinson School

Robinson School is the premier English-speaking, co-educational, college-preparatory, independent international school located in the heart of the vibrant Condado area in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The school serves students from 12 months old to 12th grade in a campus that provides a dynamic learning environment where tradition meets innovation.

Leading the future since 1902, Robinson School has cultivated a legacy as the first school of its kind in Puerto Rico, a tradition that endures 120 years later. The school is San Juan's only International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, accredited for its Primary Years Program (grades 1-6), Middle Years Program (grades 7-10), and its Diploma Program (grades 11-12).  Robinson integrates the student-centered, interdisciplinary philosophies of the IB with its emphasis on rigorous college-preparatory academics within a supporting nurturing learning environment.  Robinson educates students intellectually, emotionally, and socially, empowering then to use what they learn to discover creative solutions to real-life situations that impact their local and global communities.

A core belief at Robinson is in the role that technology plays in transforming learning experiences and preparing students for hte future.  Highly trained and qualified teachers integrate 21st-century technology like Canvas LMS and Microsoft Office 365 tools with innovative teaching techniques, to optomize the learning process and help students gain the edge they need to succeed.  Small classes - taught in smart classrooms, state-of-the-art labs, and studios - ensure that students receive individualized attention.  They are also encouraged to become the critical, creative, and compassionate thinkers (and doers) that universities and rising industries seek.  Beginning in Preschool, Robinson balances its whole-child approach with an emphasis on STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Design, and Mathematics), comprehensive language and humanities offerings, service learning and leadership, citizenship, and social impact.  All this supporting the school's aim to develop students as deep and knowledgeable inquirers, and skilled problem solvers.

Robinson School offers a broad range of exceptional programs that meet the needs of its students and community.  There are strong core programs in Visual and Performing Arts focused on fostering creativity service and leadership opportunities.  Championship teams and clubs in Robotics, Math, Science, Oratory (Spanish), Forensics (English) and Athletics, along with local and international students travel opportunities to integrate the principles of sustainability through experiences such as gardening and aquaponics, waste management and more.

The school offers the most comprehensive education in English on the island; however, Spanish is also required for all K-12 students, and French is required for Middle and Upper School.  Elementary students can learn French after school through the Beyond the Bell program.  Only Spanish and English are required by most schools in Puerto Rico.

Robinson prides itself on being an inclusive community and the diversity of Robinson's student body and staff, along with the rich learning experiences that arise as a result, help students understand their world and prepare to communicate effectively as global leaders.  The Toddler Academic Program prepares students from 12 months to 3 years old for an IB education by promoting independence and exploration throughout all developmental stages.  The Preschool Academic Program (ages 3-5), part of the IB Primary Years Program (PYP) shapes young inquisitive minds into autonomous, creative thinkers.  The Elementary School Program (grades 1-6) uses the PYP to help students with a curriculum designed to help them recognized their full potential.  The Upper School Program, advances a rigorous college-preparatory program with IB Diploma Program and AP courses, campus visits from colleges and universities, and career internships.  The Pathways Program, designed for students with mild language-based learning differences, continues its 25+ year tradition of offering a dynamic and secure learning environment that recognizes each child's unique learning process.  Specially trained faculty develop curricular accomodations and appropriate academic instruction according to the students' needs.  Students receive additional support from on-site speech, language, reading, and occupational therapists, as well as psychologists. All students are supported throughout their learning journey at Robinson by a skilled, caring team of faculty and support staff that ensure every child's needs are met as they are challenged to succeed.

At Robinson School, mindfulness and compassion grow organically as part of the school's international education.  Students learn to become global thinkers through reflection, action, and service.  Curiosity, caring, critical-thinking, and creativity, along with applied interdisciplinary academics set Robinson apart from the crowd.
